Named - for the island of Hven, Sweden.

Companion discovered 2003 Aug 14 by J. L. Margot using adaptive optics telescope observations from W. M. Keck II Telescope, Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA. Announced 2003 Aug 15 [M03g]. Provisional designation S/2003 (379) 1.
