Primary discovered 2010 Apr 14 from La Silla station, European Southern Observatory, Chile by D. L. Rabinowitz and S. Tourtellotte. Linked to prediscovery observations from 2010 Apr 06. Permanent number assigned 2016 Aug 18.

Companion discovered 2019 Jul 02 by B. Proudfoot and W. Grundy using Hubble Space Telescope observations from Hubble Space Telescope. Announced 2026 Sep 18 [P26j].
